Folklorama 2025 is upon us!

Please see the message below from 2025 Slovenia Pavilion Coordinators

Hello CSCS Members & Friends!

We hope that you are all doing well this winter season and although we are still in the middle of winter, planning has already started for Folklorama 2025.

Our Pavilion is scheduled for Week 1- Sunday, August 03- Saturday, August 09, 2025 and once again we will be located at the Bronx Park Community Centre.                         As well, our first meeting with Folklorama is sometime in February where we will get more information about the 2025 festival.

As a reminder, at the fall CSCS meetings, we provided an overview of Folklorama 2024 and of our Slovenija Pavilion. We discussed some things that were needed for 2025 if we were to once again participate, specifically the need for members to take the lead of some very important Departments (i.e., BBQ, Culinary/Kitchen Days, Culinary/Kitchen Evenings) due to the long time Department Leads ‘retiring.’ Without Leads in these areas we would not be able to participate in Folklorama 2025. Although it was asked at these meetings if anyone would like to volunteer as the Lead in any of these 3 Departments, there were no volunteers at that time. However, we do have wonderful members who have already volunteered to lead other Departments for 2025 (A BIG THANK YOU) but we are still in need of your support.

After this discussion, the membership took a vote and voted in favor of our Slovenija Pavilion once again participating in Folklorama 2025 and with the hope that members will step in to Lead these 3 important Departments.

For our 2025 Slovenija Pavilion, below is other important information for your awareness:

NOTE: CSCS is also providing $25 towards a CSCS membership for all Department Leads in appreciation for their work to support our Pavilion.

Please consider taking a Department Lead position or volunteering in other ways for our Slovenija Pavilion. We are here to help and support each Department Lead and volunteer to ensure this year's Slovenija Pavilion is once again a great success!

Your help is appreciated & we cannot host our Pavilion without volunteer support.

Below is a list of those members who have already agreed to take the Lead in heading our different departments, and we thank them for their commitment:

  • Coordinators: Diane Schuster & Pauline Tutkaluke (Co-Coordinators)

  • Assistant Coordinator: Michelle Henning

  • Admissions: Amy Arsenault

  • Bar/Beverage: Stephanie Thiessen Jagodnik

As well, we are looking for Slovenija Pavilion Ambassadors:

  • Adult Ambassadors (x2) age 18 and over

If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador, please see the attached application form for further information and forward your completed application to Diane at diane.a.schuster@gmail.com

Note the deadline to submit your Ambassador application form is March 20, 2025.

As discussed above and at the Fall CSCS meetings, a few of the Department Lead positions must be filled to be able to run our Pavilion.

These include:

·         BBQ, Culinary/Kitchen Days, and Culinary/Kitchen Evenings.

Please consider taking the Lead for these areas. We also would like to add that these vacant positions do not need to be filled by only one person. These positions can be considered in a partnership (e.g., co-leads) with a friend if any CSCS member prefers to share the Department Lead role. As well, BBQ can be divided into Day and Evening Leads if preferred. As a reminder, if you are curious about these positions reach out and ask us questions. We have contacts within the community that can provide details of what it takes to fill these positions.

Please note: We all would like to participate in Folklorama and host the Slovenija Pavilion 2025 but this really needs our full community support. If we do not have a Lead (co-leads) for these 3 departments by March 30, 2025, then we will have to withdraw from Folklorama festival for 2025. We have until March 30, 2025 to inform Folklorama about the names of Department Leads.

If you are able to take on a Lead/Co-Lead position, are interested in becoming an Ambassador, would like to volunteer for this year's Pavilion, or if you have any questions or suggestions about our 2025 Pavilion, please contact

Diane (Diane.a.schuster@gmail.com) or Pauline  (mptutkaluke@gmail.com )

Hvala Lepa,
