Pisanica Egg Painting
Hello to all! Easter is fast approaching and we are wanting to host a pisanica (egg painting) event April 12 2025 at 1:00pm in the Slovenian church basement hall. The event would entail traditional pisanica egg painting kits as well as extra wax painting crayons for any kids that would like to attend. We will also have a short lesson on the traditions of egg painting. We will provide egg, colors, pisanica kits, candles and we will have cold cuts and refreshments available. Volunteer Dinner
Join us for our annual CSCS volunteer dinner. Celebrate all the effort made by our volunteers, resulting in the continued success of our pavilion and community. Food and beverages will be served along with fun and fellowship.
CSCS Spring BBQ
The CSCS will be hosting a spring BBQ in celebration of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. This will be a sit down event, as opposed to the drive thru’s we have done in the past. Join us in the church hall to enjoy a delicious plate of BBQ, and to watch a performance from the Triglav, Rozmarin, and Zvoncek Dance Ensembles. To preorder your BBQ Pork and Chicken Dinners for $18, please email Boris at treasurer@canadianslovenian.mb.ca by May 16th. The food will be served starting at 3:00, with performances to follow.

The CSCS is hosting a drive-thru BBQ at Our Lady of Lourdes church hall (95 Macdonald Avenue). Thanks to our hard working volunteers, we will be selling BBQ chicken and pork. Members can pre-order until October 25th over email to treasurer@canadianslovenian.mb.ca

Meet with Representative from Slovenian Embassy in Ottawa!
If interested, please email sloembassy.ottawa@gov.si to meet with a representative from the Slovenian Embassy in Ottawa. They will be visiting Winnipeg on May 9th. The meetings are by appointment only, and so please disregard the timing of the event outlined in this post - the time the rep can meet with you may be outside of 12pm-8pm on May 9th. Please contact them to book, as they are handling scheduling. We encourage you to reach out!
2023 Baking Schedule
We're back this year at Bronx Community Centre for our pavilion celebrating Folklorama. Helen Fewster and Veronica Thiffeault are heading pastry this year. Join us with baking pastries! Any day you will be able to help is greatly appreciated. Lunch will be provided on the Saturday dates.
Baking dates are as follows:
April 10 - starting at 5 pm - Cookies
April 15 - starting at 9 am - Torte
April 17 - starting at 5 pm - Cookies
April 22 - starting at 9 am - Peaches
April 29 - starting at 9 am - Torte

Sleigh Ride
After a long wait the CSCS is finally once again hosting the annual sleigh ride at Miracle Ranch! There will be an area to gather at the end to socialize, and eat around the fire. We will be offering Chilli (vegetarian Chilli also available,) S’mores, and Hot Chocolate!
WHERE: Miracle Ranch (65083 Lorne Hill Road Springfield)
WHAT: a fun sleigh ride followed by refreshments and use of the ranch’s fire pit
COST: $20 for non-members. $15 for members. $5 under 12.

CSCS member or not, if you volunteered in support of the Folklorama 2022 festival join us at our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner in the Our Lady of Lourdes church hall, 95 Macdonald Avenue (Winnipeg, Mb.) We will have a brief CSCS meeting to vote on Folklorama 2023, followed by a presentation from the board on Folklorama 2022 and dinner! We hope to see everyone there.
